When it comes to filmed adaptations of Dune, David Lynch’s 1984 version remains, to this day, better at being the first one to exist!
The mostly benevolent House Atreides takes on the vicious House Harkonnen as they battle over the valuable spice on the planet Arrakis (which we all will just call Dune). Their feud leads Atriedes heir-apparent Paul to team up with the locals fight for more than just the Atreides name.
Unlike some adaptations that take their time, this one boldly tries to cram the whole book into 137 minutes. Led by local hunk Kyle MacLachlan, the cast is great and give legit solid performances all around. It’s a lot of fun, and totally worth a watch on our screen.
