Wes Anderson’s second film brought him national acclaim and started a new chapter in Bill Murray’s career.
Young Max Fischer is a stand out scholarship student at Rushmore Academy, excelling in every activity except the actual academics. Herman Blume is a disillusioned alumnus who meets Max after speaking at an assembly. The two form an unlikely bond, realizing that their successes still haven’t lead them to fulfilling lives. When both become smitten with Rushmore’s first grade teacher, their friendship becomes a rivalry that escalates quickly.
Jason Schwartzman makes his film debut as the ambitious Max. Olivia Williams and Brian Cox also star in this smart comedy, with plenty of Anderson’s trademark style on display.
